Stirling Pumper

Stirling pumper at a transformer fire Stirling Pumper is the brigade's primary pumping appliance (hence the name). It carries around 2000 litres of water, as well as hundreds of metres of hose.
Stirling pumper also carries the brigade's Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) equipment, including chemical splash suits, chemical tests kits, and other equipment used for setting up and running a Hazardous materials incident.

The equipment carried on pumper includes:

  • Suction hose (both 64mm and 100mm)

  • Extinguishers (Powder, Foam and CO2)
  • First Aid kit
  • GRN Radios
  • VHF and GRN handheld radios
  • Rescue Rope
  • Stop / Slow bats
  • Safety vests
  • Traffic Cones
  • Salvage Sheets
  • Hurst Hydraulic combination tool for Rescue applications (with pump)
  • Haligan tool
  • Ceiling pike
  • Hazmat Equipment (See below)
  • Chainsaw
  • Trauma Teddy
  • Absorbant material (for oil spills etc)
  • Petrol driven Positive Pressure Ventilation fan
As part of the Hazmat Stowage, it also carries:
  • Lighting
  • Generator
  • Splash suits and Tyvec type 'C' coveralls
  • Gas detection system (Micro5 PID)
  • Temperature detector
  • Chemical containment, neutralisation and decontamination equipment
In the winter of 2008 Stirling Pumper went away to be refurbished and as such is not a current running appliance.
